This race is often hot, humid, and exposed, so athletes should prepare for sun and hydration needs on the bike and run. The course is flat but wind can be a major factor, and the venue's waterfront setup means standard IRONMAN check-in and transition timing should be followed closely. Wetsuit legality depends on race-week water temperature and should not be assumed in advance.

Where to spectate, what to do after the finish line.
Best zone for walking access to the venue, restaurants, and the most race-week atmosphere. Inventory is limited, so rooms can book early and rates can rise on race weekend.
Practical stay option near major roads and chain lodging on the outskirts of Cambridge. Usually easier for parking and arrivals by car, but less atmospheric and not as walkable to race activities.
Attractive Chesapeake Bay town with more leisure appeal for supporters extending the trip. It offers a stronger vacation atmosphere but requires a drive to Cambridge and more race-morning planning.
Budget-friendlier regional base with more hotel inventory and services. Best for late bookers or points stays, but it is a commuter setup rather than an immersive race stay.
