Warm water and tropical weather mean athletes should check the event's wetsuit ruling closer to race week rather than assume one way or the other. Bike handling can be affected by wind on exposed coastal roads, and travel with bike cases is easiest via CZM or via Cancun plus ferry logistics planned carefully.

Where to spectate, what to do after the finish line.
Best stay for athletes who want to walk to race functions, the start area, and the finish chute. Also ideal for supporters who want restaurants, shops, and repeated run-course access.
A quieter resort-oriented option north of downtown with easy taxi access into the race hub. Good if you want more resort amenities but still remain relatively close to San Miguel.
Resort-heavy area south of town with attractive beachfront properties, but farther from the central race venue. Better for a vacation feel than for race-week simplicity.
Guesthouses and smaller hotels a few blocks inland from the waterfront can offer lower prices while keeping the race venue reachable on foot or by short taxi ride.
