Where to spectate, what to do after the finish line.
The closest and most convenient zone, centered on the lakefront and main downtown core, with the shortest walk to race functions and plenty of restaurants for race weekend.
A practical compromise with walkable or short-drive access to downtown, generally a bit less expensive than the immediate waterfront while staying close to race energy.
Useful for athletes driving in and wanting easier car access, but less immersive than staying downtown and more exposed to race-week traffic management.
Best for late flights, points hotels, or major savings, but it turns race morning into a real commute and is only sensible for travelers comfortable with a rental car and early departure.
