0 of 126 items complete
For an athlete racing IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth on Sunday 20 September 2026. Race-week activity currently runs from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September. Use this as a decision list alongside the latest official athlete guide, event schedule, venue signs and instructions from race officials.
RACE-WEEK RECHECK
This checklist was checked against the official Weymouth materials on 10 September 2026. Organiser instructions can change. Reopen the official event page, schedule and 2026 athlete guide during race week. The 2026 athlete briefing is not published yet; do not substitute the older briefing for current-year instructions. Confirm any final access, course, weather, timing, medical or collection update before acting.
Before travel — make the plan resilient
- Confirm the entry, athlete name, race category and race date: IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth on Sunday 20 September 2026.
- Save the registration confirmation and the registration QR code where they can be opened without relying on a signal.
- Download the exact current-year athlete guide and event schedule, then check their revision dates again during race week.
- Note the current race-week dates: registration is on Friday 18 or Saturday 19 September, transition is Saturday 19 September, and racing is Sunday 20 September.
- Treat a hotel search for 18–21 September as a planning default only; edit the dates for the actual arrival, departure and room needs.
- Choose accommodation and routes that remain workable on foot if race-day driving or road access is restricted.
- If arriving by rail, check the live itinerary and facilities for Weymouth, the nearest mainline station.
- If travelling with a bike, confirm the carrier’s current packing, reservation, dimensions and insurance rules before departure.
- Keep irreplaceable race items, medication, ID and registration evidence in the bag that stays with you.
- Make a list of items that could be replaced locally and items that cannot, then pack the latter first.
- Agree who will hold room keys, phone, money, warm layers and recovery clothing while you race.
- Give supporters one primary meeting point and one backup point that do not obstruct the finish or transition flow.
- Make a fallback plan for every time-critical movement; do not assume an organiser shuttle or special transfer exists.
- Check the forecast and the latest official instructions close to race day without deciding equipment from an old briefing.
- Check bike brakes, shifting, tyres, fasteners, hydration mounts and the familiar repair setup before travelling.
- Make a race-fuelling plan with quantities and timing already tolerated in training.
Arrival and Friday registration — Weymouth Pavilion
- Put Weymouth Pavilion into the trip plan as the athlete registration and check-in venue.
- Attend compulsory athlete registration on Friday 18 September between 11:00 and 17:00, or on Saturday 19 September between 08:00 and 15:00.
- Do not rely on late registration; the current guide says late registration is not available.
- Bring the race licence or insurance evidence, photo ID and the registration QR code required by the current guide.
- If racing as a relay, arrange for all relay members to attend registration together.
- Check the issued athlete details before leaving the Pavilion and ask officials about any discrepancy immediately.
- Inventory every number, label, wristband, timing item and bag against the current guide rather than guessing what it is for.
- Ask the registration team about any unresolved check-in, transition, timing-chip or collection question.
- Locate the walkable route from accommodation to Weymouth Pavilion and allow time for a queue.
- Inspect the bike after transport and resolve damage or a loosened component before transition check-in.
- Complete only familiar movement or a short equipment check; do not add training because travel has made you anxious.
- Buy or organise only nutrition and hydration products that have already worked in training.
- Agree the supporter meeting plan before race morning, including what happens if messages are delayed.
Saturday 19 September — transition and bike check-in
- Put Lodmoor Car Park into the trip plan as the transition venue.
- Take the bike and required bags to transition on Saturday between 08:30 and 17:00.
- Bring and wear the athlete wristband required for transition access.
- Leave enough time for the visual bike, brake and helmet inspection before the transition area closes.
- Enter the bike inspection with the helmet on your head and its strap fastened.
- Rack the bike by the seat post as instructed; do not use a bike cover.
- Put the helmet in the blue bag as directed by the current athlete guide.
- Keep shoes and familiar nutrition ready to clip to the bike on race morning only if the current instructions and your setup allow it.
- Load only familiar on-bike nutrition and secure it so it cannot interfere with steering, braking or pedalling.
- Set tyre pressure for the actual equipment and conditions, not a copied number.
- Confirm the bike computer, electronic shifting and other powered equipment have enough charge.
- Build each bag from the sequence of actions you will use, then remove anything that creates confusion.
- Separate must-use items from condition-dependent items inside each bag.
- Photograph the completed bike and bag setup for a calm visual check later.
- Note the rack position using fixed landmarks as well as its row or number.
- Walk the signed bike-out, bike-in and bag flow before leaving transition.
- Ask an official what can be accessed or changed on race morning rather than relying on a previous event.
- After check-in, set alarms, prepare breakfast, lay out start clothing and stop equipment tinkering.
Kit check — swim, bike, run and transition
- Pack the compulsory event swim cap and keep it with the swim kit.
- Pack goggles that have been tested in training and a familiar backup if you use one.
- Check the latest water-temperature instruction before deciding on a wetsuit: it is allowed up to 24.5°C, prohibited above that, and mandatory below 16°C.
- Do not pack fins, gloves, paddles or flotation devices as race equipment; the guide also prohibits snorkels.
- Prepare the race suit, timing-chip-safe clothing and any permitted warm layer without adding an untested item.
- Check bike shoes, helmet, glasses, gloves and layers against the forecast and the latest equipment rules.
- Pack a familiar spare tube or repair setup and know how you will seek official assistance if a problem exceeds it.
- Prepare run shoes, socks, race belt or number solution and weather layers in the correct bag.
- Keep the white or street-wear bag separate from the bike and transition setup.
- Label bags and equipment exactly as the current guide requires, then check every label before leaving accommodation.
- Keep timing-chip instructions with the race-morning plan; the chip is issued when leaving transition after Saturday check-in.
Nutrition and aid-station plan
- Write down the bike and run fuelling plan, including what you will carry and what you may collect.
- Start with the intake pattern already tolerated in training rather than trying to correct nerves with extra food.
- Note the bike aid-station miles currently listed as 16.5, 27.6 and 40.0.
- Expect bike stations to provide water, Precision Hydration 1000 in 750 ml recycled bottles, bananas, Maurten Solid 160 or Solid C160 bars, and Maurten Gel 100 products.
- Check your own caffeine plan carefully: the current guide distinguishes black non-caffeinated Gel 100 from white caffeinated Gel 100 Caf 100.
- Note the run aid-station miles currently listed as 2.3, 3.7, 5.1, 7.3, 8.7, 10.1 and 12.3.
- Expect run stations to list water, PH1000, cola, bananas, sweet and salted snacks, and Maurten bars or gels in paper cups.
- Remember that medical support is listed at every bike aid station and at run miles 2.3, 7.3 and 12.3.
- Use only products and quantities your stomach has practised; aid-station availability is not a reason to change the plan on race day.
- Pack recovery food and fluid for after the finish rather than relying on an unverified departure stop.
Race morning — Sunday 20 September
- Set an alarm that leaves time for the practised breakfast, hydration, toilet queue and walk to Lodmoor.
- Check official race communications once for an overnight change before leaving accommodation.
- Arrive while transition is scheduled to be open from 05:00 to 07:00.
- Use the pre-walked route to Lodmoor Country Park and keep a time buffer that does not depend on vehicle access.
- Check that the bike is present, stable and free from an overnight issue.
- Check tyre pressure by feel or gauge and investigate meaningful pressure loss.
- Add shoes or familiar nutrition to the bike only in the way permitted by the current instructions.
- Leave the white or street-wear bag outside transition in the stated drop area between 05:00 and 07:00.
- Put the white-bag collection plan somewhere supporters can understand; the bag is collected at the finish.
- Confirm the timing chip is on the left ankle before leaving transition.
- Return the timing chip at the finish, or when collecting belongings after a DNF.
- Use toilets early enough that a queue does not compress the start routine.
- Follow signs and marshal directions to the Lodmoor Country Park Beach Front swim start.
- Be ready for the current self-seeded rolling swim start at 07:15, while following live announcements if officials change it.
- Use only a familiar warm-up if conditions, timing and officials permit it.
Swim, bike and run execution
- Start the swim at controlled effort and create space before settling into the trained rhythm.
- Sight often enough to correct small errors early and signal for help if distress or equipment trouble develops.
- Follow the marked swim exit and the signed flow into transition without rushing.
- Mount the bike only where officials and course markings permit.
- Settle breathing, handling and fuelling before chasing a target split.
- Follow signs, marshals and traffic management at junctions, descents, aid areas and crowded sections.
- Address a developing mechanical or physical issue early using practiced options and official assistance where available.
- Prepare for the marked dismount before bike-in and rehearse the bag and run sequence.
- Leave transition at a controlled effort and let pace settle after the bike.
- Use the practised run fuelling plan and adapt intake to what you have already consumed.
- Monitor effort, coordination, temperature comfort and stomach tolerance; ask medical staff for help when needed.
- Treat every course detail and timing instruction as live information from officials, not as a promise from an older briefing.
Supporters and spectator movement
- Share the current official supporters page with your group and agree one primary and one backup meeting point.
- Consider the listed viewing areas at Preston Beach, Cafe Oasis, Lodmoor Country Park, Custom House Cafe and Weymouth Pavilion.
- Use the official IRONMAN Tracker app or live web tracker rather than promising an exact sighting time.
- Check whether TriClub Village needs an RSVP before making it part of the group plan.
- Keep supporters clear of athlete-only transition and follow barriers, signs and marshal directions.
- Do not promise a particular parking space, road access time, shuttle or special transfer.
- If using organiser parking advice, recheck the current guide and allow for walking: Mount Pleasant Park & Ride is described as free parking with about a 15-minute walk, but it is not a guarantee and its bus service requires payment.
- Note that the guide says the Park & Ride is not fully operative; keep a non-shuttle fallback.
- Note that Beach Car Park is closed on race day from 04:00 to 18:00 and do not plan around entering it then.
- Agree where supporters will wait after the finish without blocking the directed athlete flow.
Finish, collection and departure
- Move through the directed finish area before making the agreed supporter contact.
- Return the loaned timing chip to the officials collecting it at the finish; do not keep it.
- Take the available post-race food, fluid, warmth and medical support according to need.
- Collect the white bag and confirm its contents before leaving the finish area.
- Send the agreed “finished and safe” message when able, without delaying recovery.
- Confirm the final bike/bag collection window at Lodmoor Car Park: the August event schedule lists 14:00–17:00 Sunday, while the September athlete guide lists 14:00–18:00. Plan around the earlier 17:00 close unless the organiser confirms otherwise; do not assume an 18:00 deadline.
- Bring the athlete wristband for collection.
- If a spectator is collecting for you, request the spectator collection wristband at registration; both people must be present and sign the required waiver.
- Do not assume a spectator can collect equipment without that wristband, both parties and the waiver process.
- Check the bike, bags and contents inside the controlled collection area before leaving.
- If you are considering awards, note the current Weymouth Pavilion window of 18:00–20:00 and confirm the latest official instruction; award recipients must attend in person.
- If raising a results objection, use the current official process and times rather than an older briefing.
- Check rail, bike carriage, road access, accommodation checkout and recovery needs before committing to a departure time.
- Leave contingency for collection, recovery and live access changes; no organiser-specific departure shuttle or luggage service has been verified.
